Ecology and Environment
The land is currently non-organic arable farmland, which typically has very little biodiversity or wildlife. As part of the proposal we will be including a package of habitat enhancements in order to deliver a biodiversity net gain for the development including:
-native tree belts.
-bunding to provide screening.
-enhancement to existing wildlife corridors.
-use of locally sourced native tree and shrub species.
-preserving and enhancing the existing network of hedgerows and habitat along the Laprig Burn and in hedgerows surrounding the field.
A full ecological survey of the site will be carried out over the coming weeks. In addition to this a noise assessment will be undertaken to ensure that the project is designed to avoid any unacceptable noise effects.
A full hydrological assessment will be undertaken which will also include a flood risk assessment and, finally, a heritage assessment of the site and its surroundings will be carried out.
